Syndicate 1884 is managed by Premia Managing Agency (“PMAL”). PMAL provides risk-transfer and run-off solutions for other Lloyd’s syndicates and capital providers. It is responsible for managing the run-off of Syndicate 1884 for the Year of Account 2018, following cessation of live market underwriting on 31 December 2018.
PMAL, through Syndicate 1884, has assumed billions in reserves and has completed three Reinsurance to Close (RiTCs) transactions and two additional reinsurance transactions.

PMAL is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.

As manager of the syndicate, PMAL will ensure that claims and post-binding underwriting service levels to policyholders are maintained throughout the lifetime of each policy in line with Lloyd’s oversight principles and other regulatory requirements.
PMAL will deliver a consistent and high quality claims service, recognising and understanding the varying needs of our customers across a broad range of underwriting classes and ensuring all claims are assessed in a fair and timely manner, all covered claims are settled promptly and in compliance with the regulatory environment.
